Kerala:  Rahul Gandhi says, “I want to work with you to make your life easier!”

IndiaKerala:  Rahul Gandhi says, "I want to work with you to make your life easier!"

Congress leader and Member of Parliament from Wayanad,   went to Kerala on Sunday evening on a two-day visit to meet the people, and participate in events.

During this visit, he attended a program to mark the culmination of padayatra being undertaken by state leader of opposition Ramesh Chennithala.  On Monday, he inaugurated Kudumbashree Sangamon at Poothadi, and the Gandhi statue at a School at Meppadi. He also attended a  farmer tractor rally from Thrikkaipetta to Muttil to support the farmers.  He went to Thiruvananthapuram after inaugurating the Cancer Detection and Treatment Center at the Government Community Health Center in Edavanna town.

Massive crowds gathered to meet him and the air was jubilant with the expectancy of promises made by the leader with assurances that promises made would come to fruition.  His connection with the crowds was real, natural, charged with compassion.  He was on the boat with them, ate with them, and interacted with them, listening to their concerns, offering solutions.  One person shared a picture of him admiringly saying, “Rahul Gandhi can dive into a depth of 75 meters without oxygen. He is perfect in underwater swimming!”  He captured their hearts with his simplicity, humility, and strength.

On the day that Rahul Gandhi went fishing with the fishermen at Thangassery Beach in Kollam, he observed the disheartened faces of the fishermen when their nets were drawn out empty.  He immediately promised a separate budget for farmers as also “separate” minister for fisheries, if Congress is voted into power in Kerala.

In his speech at Thangassery Beach in Kollam, he said, “We should make sure that what we promise we deliver.  This is our commitment!”

He also said, “We are determined to make the life of every Indian – every farmer, every fisherman, every worker – easier.”

He added, “I fight the BJP, I fight the ideology of RSS every single day.  Every single step I take they attack me.”

He said, “Non-violence by our side, no power on earth can defeat us in this fight for India’s prosperity.”

He also stated, “LDF doesn’t care about the youth of Kerala.”  “We must listen to the voice of Kerala.”

He reinstated, “Over the last five years there has been a systematic campaign to take away what belongs to the people and give it to the rich.”

He emphatically said, “A nation can only prosper when the promises made are fulfilled bringing progressive changes in the lives of people. Congress stands for its commitment and ensures that promises are delivered.”

The visit comes ahead of the assembly elections set to take place in the month of May.

It is interesting to note that the Congress-ruled Rajasthan government introduced the Right to Health Bill, which Rahul Gandhi had promised while he was campaigning in Rajasthan. This would indicate that Kerala can be sure that promises made will be delivered.
