Washington: US President Joe Biden and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin have discussed issues of bilateral and international importance apart from advancing the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (New START).
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki told reporters on Tuesday that ‘President Biden phoned Russian President Vladimir Putin and called for strategic arms reduction agreement (New Start) between the two countries to go forward for five years, besides several other bilateral issues. They also discussed the issues of international importance.
Ms. Psaki said the two leaders discussed several other issues of international importance, including the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, as well as the alleged poisoning of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, and issues related to Afghanistan.
