An unidentified militant and a civilian have been killed in an armed encounter in Pulwama. A search operation is going on in the area.
Srinagar: A militant has been killed in an encounter with militants during a cordon and search operation (CASO) of security forces at Pampore in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir. A civilian has also died in this encounter.
Official sources gave this information on Friday morning. Sources said that National Intelligence Rifles (RR), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police at the Meig Lalpora Pampore in Pulwama district on Thursday received a tip-off about the presence of terrorists and started a joint search operation.
The operation was halted yesterday due to the darkness of the night, which was resumed by security forces this morning.
As the security forces were moving towards a certain place, the terrorists already hiding there started random firing on them with automatic weapons. The security forces also retaliated after which the encounter started in which an unknown terrorist was killed.
Two civilians were also injured in this encounter who were admitted to the hospital. One of the injured died in the hospital this morning during treatment. The deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Abid Nabi. The encounter is still going on till the final report is received and detailed details are awaited.
