Moscow: The United Nations has welcomed the US decision to remove Houthi rebels active in Yemen from its list of foreign terrorist groups. United Nations spokesman Stephen Dujaric gave this information on Saturday.

According to US media, US Congress and State Department officials gave this information in their report. Reportedly, the new administration of President Joe Biden has also regularly informed Congress in this regard.

The spokesman said, “We welcome the announcement that the US is considering removing the Houthi rebels from the list of foreign terrorist groups. This removal will provide relief to millions of Yemenis who seek humanitarian aid and trade imports for their basic needs. “This decision will also help to ensure that the necessary supplies reach them without delay.

It is notable that the previous Trump administration put the Houthi group on the list of foreign terrorist groups. The leader of this group, Abdul Malik al-Houthi, and his brother, Army Commander Abdul Khalik al-Houthi, and another Ansarullah commander, Abdullah Yahia al-Hakim, were also declared global terrorists.
