The guidelines will be exempted for the officials who were engaged in election duty during Lok Sabha elections
New Delhi: The Election Commission has issued guidelines regarding the transfer of officials before the elections in view of next year’s assembly elections in five states.
The commission has issued these guidelines for Tamil Nadu, Kerala, West Bengal Assam and Puducherry where the elections are due next year. According to the release issued by the Commission, officers on election duty will not be posted in their home district.
It is also said in the guidelines that the officers engaged in election duty should not have held more than three years in their district before 31 May. The officers who are about to retire in six months will also not be put into election duty. Moreover, officials against whom a complaint has been found during the election will also not be put on election duty.
The term of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly ends on May 24, the Kerala Legislative Assembly’s term on June 1, the West Bengal Legislative Assembly’s term on May 30, the Assam Legislative Assembly’s term on May 31, and the Puducherry Assembly’s term on June 8.
According to the release, the above guidelines will be exempted for the officials who were engaged in election duty during the Lok Sabha elections.
