During the Voice of Global South Summit 3.0, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the transformative power of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) in advancing inclusive development. Speaking at the summit’s inaugural leaders’ session, PM Modi hailed DPI’s role in fostering equitable growth, stating, “The contribution of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) to inclusive growth is nothing short of revolutionary.”
Underlining India’s leadership during its G-20 presidency, PM Modi highlighted the creation of the Global DPI Repository, marking the first-ever global consensus on DPI. He also announced partnerships with 12 nations from the Global South to share the ‘India Stack,’ showcasing India’s dedication to global collaboration.
PM Modi introduced a ‘Social Impact Fund,’ kickstarted with an initial contribution of USD 25 million, encouraging nations of the Global South to unite, share experiences, and work together towards common goals.
He also addressed India’s initiatives in promoting mutual trade, inclusive growth, and women-led development, alongside efforts to advance sustainable development goals (SDGs). The Prime Minister stressed the importance of infrastructure, digital, and energy connectivity to strengthen cooperation, citing initiatives like Mission LiFE, which focuses on renewable energy in India and its partner countries.
Additionally, PM Modi highlighted India’s strides in financial inclusion through the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and advancements in education, capacity building, and skill development via the Global South Excellence Centre. He reiterated India’s commitment to global health security, referencing initiatives like Arogya Maitri.
In his closing remarks, PM Modi called for a unified and constructive approach to ensuring that the voices and aspirations of the Global South are well-represented on the global stage. Reflecting on India’s G-20 presidency, he mentioned the country’s efforts to reshape the organization, including advocating for the inclusion of the African Union.
“The Voice of Global South Summit has emerged as a vital platform for open discussions on development challenges and priorities,” PM Modi concluded.
