The Union Health Ministry has introduced strict new guidelines aimed at protecting doctors and healthcare workers, directing government hospitals and medical colleges to take immediate action following incidents of violence.
According to the latest directive, issued by the Directorate General of Health Services, any violent act against hospital staff must be reported to the police within six hours. The responsibility for filing the FIR rests with the head of the institution where the incident occurs.
This move comes in response to a concerning rise in violence against medical professionals. The directive mandates that the incident must be reported to the institution’s head immediately, who must ensure that the FIR is lodged without delay.
These regulations apply to all AIIMS facilities and medical colleges, and are designed to enhance the safety and security of healthcare workers nationwide.
