Amid escalating unrest in Bangladesh, the Border Security Force (BSF) has heightened security along the India-Bangladesh border for the next 48 hours. The alert, issued on Monday, comes as the situation in Bangladesh remains tense following recent political developments. BSF Director General Daljit Singh Chawdhary has arrived in Kolkata to oversee the heightened security measures.
A senior BSF officer confirmed that a high alert has been issued across the BSF frontiers along the India-Bangladesh border. The North and South Bengal Frontiers have been directed to increase patrolling efforts. The officer also noted that the “Ops Alert” exercise, aimed at ensuring effective border management and domination, is already in progress.
Since July 18, the BSF has been facilitating the entry of Indian students amid the unrest. Security has been significantly increased to prevent any potential infiltration or illegal entry across the 4,096-kilometer international border with Bangladesh.
These heightened security measures follow the resignation of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the announcement of an interim government by Chief of Army Staff General Waqar-uz-Zaman. The BSF’s actions aim to maintain border security during this period of instability.
