On Friday, Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Nirmala Sitharaman, garnered attention as she virtually inaugurated a series of infrastructure projects collectively valued at over Rs 1,000 crore from the national capital.

These projects are set to significantly bolster various aspects of infrastructure across diverse sectors.

A notable highlight of the event was the ceremonial laying of the foundation stone for the Departmental Residential Complex by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), under the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance. This complex, located in Sector 28 of Faridabad, Haryana, will consist of 198 quarters of Type-II and III, providing essential housing units for officials of the Income Tax Department.

Additionally, Sitharaman inaugurated another residential complex in Sector 53 of Gurugram, comprising 214 quarters of Type-II to VI. This initiative aims to address the housing requirements of officers and officials of the Income Tax Department.

Moreover, the Union Finance Minister unveiled a departmental residential complex for the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) in Sector-9 of Dwarka, New Delhi. This complex, encompassing 256 quarters of Type-IV, V, and VI, is tailored to accommodate middle and senior-level officers of the department.

In addition to these residential projects, Sitharaman inaugurated several key infrastructure developments in Gujarat’s GIFT City. This included the new local head office building of the State Bank of India, the International Business Centre building of the Life Insurance Corporation of India, and Canara Bank’s IFSC Banking Unit. Furthermore, the new head office building of United India Insurance Company Ltd. in Chennai was also inaugurated.

Addressing the audience, Sitharaman underscored the importance of adhering to timelines for the timely completion of infrastructure projects. She emphasized the significance of such initiatives in boosting the morale and confidence of officials, reaffirming the government’s commitment to their welfare and nation-building endeavors.
