On Saturday, the Congress’ “Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra,” led by Rahul Gandhi, made its way into Varanasi, marking the third day of its journey through Uttar Pradesh.
Accompanied by the party’s state president Ajay Rai and other Congress leaders, Gandhi stood atop an open jeep as they toured the bustling Gudauli area of the temple town. Gandhi also paid a visit to the Kashi Vishwanath temple.
Pallavi Patel, leader of Apna Dal (Kamerawadi), and the Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA from Sirathu joined the yatra in Varanasi.
Previously, the yatra entered the state from Bihar at Chanduali, where it paused for the night.
SP president Akhilesh Yadav has announced his intention to join the yatra in Rae Bareli.
The journey will continue through Uttar Pradesh before proceeding to Rajasthan. Spanning from Manipur to Mumbai, the east-to-west yatra will cover 6,700 km across 15 states, aiming to convey the message of ‘nyay’ (justice) while engaging with ordinary citizens along the way.
