Israeli forces raided Nasser Hospital in Gaza on Thursday, with a video circulating online showing chaos and gunfire in darkened corridors filled with dust and smoke. Israeli military spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari described the raid as “precise and limited,” citing credible information that Hamas members were hiding in the facility and holding hostages, possibly leaving bodies behind.
Hamas spokesperson dismissed Israel’s claims as “lies.” Health authorities in Gaza reported that Israeli forces evacuated displaced people and families of medical staff from Nasser Hospital, with around 2,000 seeking refuge in Rafah and some moving to Deir Al-Balah.
The conflict began on October 7 when Hamas fighters entered Israel, resulting in casualties and hostage-taking. Israel’s subsequent offensive in Gaza has caused extensive civilian casualties and displacement.
The UN and medical charity Médecins Sans Frontières expressed concern over the siege of Nasser Hospital, highlighting the dangerous conditions faced by patients, medical staff, and displaced people. Attacks on medical facilities have raised international alarm, particularly amid Israel’s ongoing offensive in Gaza.
