On Thursday, the Congress unveiled a “black paper” aimed at shedding light on what it perceives as the “failures” of the Modi government, citing concerns such as unemployment, inflation, and agricultural distress.
Titled ’10 Saal Anyay Kaal’, the ‘black paper’ was introduced by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge ahead of the government’s forthcoming presentation of a ‘white paper’ in Parliament. The ‘white paper’ is expected to address alleged economic mismanagement preceding 2014, with the intention of drawing lessons.
The document highlights various issues including unemployment, inflation, agricultural distress, the absence of a caste census, and purported injustices against women.
Kharge took aim at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, criticizing his references to Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi when questioned about rising prices. Kharge emphasized the current ruling administration’s responsibility to address present challenges.
Furthermore, Kharge pointed out Modi’s previous promises, including the commitment to create 2 crore jobs and ensure Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers. He urged the Prime Minister to acknowledge any shortcomings instead of introducing new assurances.
Kharge concluded by asserting that the Congress, having secured India’s independence, aims to lead the nation out of what it perceives as the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) “era of injustice” by the year 2024.
