A Varanasi court has scheduled February 15th for the hearing of a petition requesting the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to conduct a survey of the closed basements within the Gyanvapi mosque complex. The petition, which claims the presence of “secret cellars” within these basements, asserts the necessity of surveying them to uncover the complete truth regarding the Gyanvapi mosque.
According to lawyer Madan Mohan Yadav, acting District Judge Anil Kumar has slated February 15th as the next hearing date for the petition.
The petitioner, Rakhi Singh, a founding member of the Vishwa Vedic Sanatan Sangh and a party in the Maa Shringar Gauri case, which prompted the ASI’s survey of the complex, has requested the ASI to survey all closed cellars within the Gyanvapi mosque complex, situated adjacent to the Kashi Vishwanath temple, as stated by her advocate Anupam Dwivedi.
The petition also includes a map detailing the locations of the closed basements.
