On Tuesday, Atishi, a senior AAP leader and minister in Delhi, accused the BJP-led Centre of attempting to intimidate and suppress the party through Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids on its leaders.
According to official sources, the Enforcement Directorate conducted searches at the residences of Bibhav Kumar, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s personal secretary, and ND Gupta, an AAP Rajya Sabha MP and the party’s treasurer, as part of a money laundering investigation.
Atishi stated that the ED raids on Kumar and Gupta’s premises began at 7 am and claimed that more raids on other AAP leaders’ residences were scheduled throughout the day.
She further alleged that the Enforcement Directorate had coerced witnesses and accused individuals associated with an excise policy case into providing statements through intimidation and force.
Accusing the BJP-led Centre of using the ED to intimidate and suppress the AAP, Atishi emphasized that despite a two-year probe, no evidence has been uncovered by the agencies regarding the alleged excise policy scam.
The ED raids reportedly covered around 10 premises in the national capital. Official sources indicated that it was unclear whether these searches were part of an ongoing money laundering investigation or related to a new case.
