Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Vice President expressed concern on Saturday over the permission granted for ‘puja’ at one of the ‘Tehkhana’ in the Gyanvapi Mosque complex, stating that now “Trust is breaking.”
Mohammed Saleem, addressing a press conference, emphasized the government’s responsibility to safeguard religious places and institutions in the country, urging it to work within the law.
He criticized the court for seemingly considering public sentiment and questioned the strength of democracy in the country. The Allahabad High Court had recently denied a stay on the Varanasi Court order allowing Hindu prayers in the southern cellar of the Gyanvapi mosque.
