Prime Minister Narendra Modi Joins Pongal Celebrations in New Delhi, Emphasizes Unity and Festive Spirit

In a vibrant display of cultural harmony, Prime Minister Narendra Modi actively participated in the lively Pongal celebrations at the residence of Union Minister Murugan in New Delhi today. Addressing the gathered audience, he extended heartfelt wishes for Pongal, highlighting the festive fervor resonating in every Tamil Nadu home.

Expressing joy at recognizing familiar faces from last year’s Tamil Puthandu celebrations, Prime Minister Modi conveyed his gratitude to Union Minister L. Murugan for the gracious invitation.

During his address, the Prime Minister referenced various ongoing festivities, including Lohri and Makar Sankranti, extending his warmest wishes to citizens across the country.

Quoting the revered saint Thiruvalluvar, PM Modi underscored the pivotal role of educated citizens, honest businessmen, and a thriving agricultural sector in the process of nation-building. He emphasized the intrinsic connection between festivals and the rural community, giving special mention to Pongal’s tradition of offering freshly harvested crops to God, thereby recognizing the indispensable role of farmers.

Shedding light on the significance of drawing Kolam, a traditional design during Pongal, Prime Minister Modi drew parallels to India’s diversity. He noted that the strength of the country manifests when every corner emotionally connects with one another, reflecting the national spirit encapsulated in the motto “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.”

The Prime Minister expressed delight in the growing awareness about millets, acknowledging their positive impact on farmers engaged in millet farming. He commended the entrepreneurial spirit of the youth who have embraced startup ventures related to millets, contributing to the agricultural sector’s advancement.

Furthermore, PM Modi stressed the importance of unity, declaring that the feeling of unity is the key force propelling India towards becoming a developed nation by 2047. He called for a collective rededication to strengthening the nation’s unity on the auspicious occasion of Pongal, emphasizing the significance of togetherness and shared aspirations.
