In Bangladesh, the formation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s new cabinet is set to take place this evening, featuring 25 ministers and 11 state ministers. President Mohammed Sahabuddin extended an invitation to Awami League President and incumbent Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday to establish the new government. The swearing-in ceremony for the new cabinet members is scheduled to be held at the Durbar Hall of the Bangabhaban in Dhaka.

Following a resounding victory in the parliamentary polls held on Sunday, Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League secured a significant mandate. This marks her fourth consecutive term and a total of five terms as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh.

The Cabinet Secretary revealed the list of ministers on Wednesday night, indicating significant changes from the previous cabinet. Notably, 15 ministers from the last cabinet, including prominent figures such as Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, Agriculture Minister Dr. Abdur Razzak, Foreign Minister Dr. AK Momen, and Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, were not included in the new cabinet. Currently, 15 ministers, 13 state ministers, and two deputy ministers have yet to be called to take the oath for their roles in the new cabinet.

Among the new faces appointed as cabinet ministers are former Commerce Minister Lt Colonel (retd) Mohammad Farooq Khan, former Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali, and former Prime Minister’s Special Envoy Saber Hossain Chowdhury.

Regarding specific portfolios, the Cabinet Secretary mentioned that this information would be disclosed today after the cabinet members take their oaths. The reshuffling of the cabinet introduces fresh perspectives and expertise to Sheikh Hasina’s government as it embarks on its new term.
