Second International AYUSH Conference and Exhibition Commences in Dubai

Dubai, January 13, 2024 – The grand opening of the second International AYUSH Conference and Exhibition took place today at the Dubai World Trade Centre, a collaborative effort led by the Science India Forum and the Ministry of AYUSH. Spanning from January 13 to 15, the three-day event is dedicated to showcasing AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, Homeopathy) as a dependable healthcare system for preventing and managing Non-Communicable Chronic Diseases (NCDs).

Under the thematic umbrella of “Non-Communicable Chronic Diseases – Prevention & Management through AYUSH,” the conference aims to spotlight AYUSH as a prevention-oriented and cost-effective approach to fostering a disease-free society. Anticipating the participation of over 1500 experts from India, the Middle East, Far East, Africa, Europe, Australia, and America, the conference is poised to become a global platform for discussions and collaborations in the realm of traditional medicine.

V. Muraleedharan, the Minister of State for External Affairs in the Government of India, graced the inaugural event as the chief guest. In his address, Minister Muraleedharan expressed enthusiasm for the conference, featuring over 50 talks, 300 research papers, and 1300 global delegates. The focus remains on exploring the efficacy of AYUSH systems in preventing and managing Non-Communicable Chronic Diseases (NCDs), a pertinent concern given the alarming global statistics of over 41 million annual NCD-related fatalities.

Highlighting India’s ancient AYUSH traditions gaining international recognition post-COVID, Minister Muraleedharan commended the government’s active promotion of AYUSH under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. Initiatives such as the National AYUSH Mission and alignment with the World Health Organization’s Traditional Medicine Strategy showcase India’s commitment to traditional healing practices. The minister expressed gratitude to the UAE for supporting AYUSH practices and anticipated strengthened collaboration between India and the UAE in traditional medicines and medical tourism.

Minister Muraleedharan extended an invitation for participation in the historic visit of PM Modi to inaugurate the BAPS Hindu Mandir in the UAE, expecting it to be the largest gathering of Indians to witness the transformative leader’s address.

Acknowledging the UAE government’s support for traditional medicine practices, the Minister anticipated that the conference would deepen India-UAE collaboration in traditional medicines and medical tourism, with the potential to position India as a global health and wellness hub.

The inaugural ceremony witnessed the participation of key figures, including BK Shivani from the Brahma Kumaris; Awadh Seghayer Al Ketbi, Director General of the Dubai Health Authority; Shri Siddharth Balachandran and Shri Mohan, Chairman and Co-Chair of the Organising Committee; Dr. V.L.
