Schlumberger (SLB) Enters Strategic Partnership with Geminus AI for Groundbreaking AI Solutions in Oil and Gas Operations

Schlumberger (NYSE: SLB) has unveiled a transformative investment and technology partnership with Geminus AI, marking a significant stride in the integration of physics-informed artificial intelligence (AI) for oil and gas operations. This exclusive collaboration grants SLB access to deploy Geminus’ pioneering AI model builder, combining physics-based methodologies with process data for rapid and cost-effective model development at scale.

Rakesh Jaggi, President of Digital and Integration at SLB, highlighted the potential impact of this partnership, stating, “The investment made by SLB in its partnership with Geminus AI produces a step-change in operational performance for customers, from production pipelines to facilities.” The Geminus model builder enables the creation of highly accurate AI models, optimizing real-time decisions for outcomes such as opex reduction, increased productivity, and carbon emissions minimization.

Geminus’ platform utilizes physics-informed AI computing to seamlessly integrate constraints of the physical world into digital models, requiring minimal data for efficient updates. Greg Fallon, CEO of Geminus AI, emphasized the partnership’s value for the energy sector, stating, “SLB’s relationships and reach will help us deliver significant efficiency and productivity increases for customers.”

A notable customer use case involved SLB delivering a Geminus hybrid AI-driven application to optimize economic performance and reduce carbon emissions at a natural gas plant. The application, trained by data from SLB’s Symmetry™ process simulation software, showcases the potential of Geminus’ physics-informed AI solution. In just days, the application, including the underlying hybrid AI model, was created and has the capability to evaluate 20,000 complex scenarios in under a tenth of a second.

SLB, a global technology company driving energy innovation, remains committed to advancing oil and gas technologies, delivering digital solutions at scale, and contributing to the global energy transition. For more information, visit SLB’s official website.
