Dhaka: The celebration of Vishwa Hindi Diwas took place in Dhaka on Wednesday, with the participation of Pranay Verma, the High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh, at Dhaka University.
During the event, Verma emphasized the role of language in connecting people who appreciate each other’s culture, considering it the essence of language. He highlighted that Hindi, as a language, serves as a medium, and the celebration is a recognition of its significance as a connector between the two societies.
High Commissioner Verma shared Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s special message, underscoring the originality and simplicity of Hindi, leading to its increased usage in various countries.
In line with the World Hindi Day celebration, prizes were awarded to winners of diverse Hindi language activities conducted at the Institute of Modern Languages, Dhaka University.
Dr. Maksud Kamal, Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University, also attended the event. Additionally, a cultural program, organized by the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) of the High Commission of India in Dhaka, showcased the richness of Hindi language and culture.
