ICC Test rankings: Bumrah, Kohli shine; Rohit Sharma back in top 10
On Wednesday, January 9, the International Cricket Council (ICC) unveiled the latest Men’s Test batting and bowling rankings, reflecting shifts triggered by India-South Africa’s Test series and Australia’s victory against Pakistan.
Bowling Rankings:
In a notable move, Jasprit Bumrah ascended to the fourth spot (787 ratings), surpassing Ravindra Jadeja, who now holds the fifth position with 774 ratings. Mohammed Siraj’s exceptional performance in the India-South Africa series propelled him 13 places higher, achieving a career-best 17th rank (661). Despite a stellar four-wicket display, South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada yielded his second position to the dynamic Pat Cummins, who now claims the spot with 858 ratings. Ravichandran Ashwin maintained his stronghold at the top with 863 ratings.
Batting Rankings:
Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli made a significant leap, securing the sixth rank with 775 ratings. Captain Rohit Sharma also climbed four places, landing on the 10th rank with 748 ratings. Rishabh Pant slipped one place to 13th. Marnus Labuschagne’s impressive scores of 60 and 62* propelled him three spots up to the fourth position (802), while Steve Smith retained the third spot with 818 ratings. Mohammad Rizwan’s notable knocks led to a 10-spot jump, securing the 17th position. Aiden Markram climbed nine places, landing on the 20th rank. Kane Williamson maintains the top spot with 864 ratings.
