Sharjah, UAE – Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and the Ruler of Sharjah, officially opened the twelfth session of the International Government Communication Forum on Wednesday. The event took place at Expo Sharjah and was graced by the presence of Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council.

Under the theme “Today’s resources. Tomorrow’s wealth,” the two-day forum has gathered over 250 speakers and participants from around the world to discuss critical issues related to government communication and resource management.

In his inaugural address, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi emphasized the importance of a strategic approach to convert resources into wealth. He argued that this could only be achieved through a well-balanced triangle consisting of natural resources, qualified human resources, and advanced technology.

Highlighting historical examples of resource management, he referred to the story of Joseph from ancient Egypt, who devised innovative strategies to preserve wheat during a famine, demonstrating the significance of economic and management genius in converting resources into wealth.

Drawing parallels to Sharjah’s own efforts in resource management, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi pointed out that Sharjah has embarked on a food security project with a focus on wheat cultivation. He praised the visionary leadership of Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi in this regard, noting the successful cultivation of wheat in the heart of the desert through cutting-edge technology.He underscored Sharjah’s commitment to achieving food security and moving from reliance on external sources to self-sufficiency, ensuring a stable food supply for current and future generations.

Judge Francesco Caprio from the United States also addressed the audience, sharing his insights and experiences.

The main stage then hosted an inspirational talk on building a sustainable future for humanity. The speaker, Mariam bint Mohammed Almheiri, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, Chairperson of the Emirates Food Security Council, discussed various challenges humanity faces, such as climate change, environmental degradation, and depletion of natural resources.

The first day of the forum featured a number of inspiring talks and panel discussions on topics such as sustainable development, food security, and economic challenges.

One of the highlights of the first day was the talk by Yollande Randrianambinina, a 53-year-old grandmother who brought clean, solar-powered electricity to her village in Madagascar. Yollande’s story highlighted the importance of government support for initiatives that promote sustainable development.

Another highlight was the panel discussion on “Charting a Hunger-Free World.” The panel discussed the global hunger crisis and the role of government communication in overcoming it. The panelists stressed the importance of raising awareness about the issue and mobilizing resources to address it.

The second day of the forum will continue to explore the theme of “Today’s resources… tomorrow’s wealth” with a focus on topics such as water management, climate change, and the future of work.

The forum is organized by the Sharjah Government Media Office and is supported by the Sharjah Media Council. It is a leading platform for exchanging knowledge and experiences on government communication and resource management.The forum is also an opportunity to showcase Sharjah’s achievements in these areas. Sharjah is a leading global hub for sustainable development, food security, and innovation. It is also a model for effective government communication.
