On July 26, in New Delhi, the Lok Sabha Speaker, Om Birla, acknowledged the submission of a no-confidence motion against the Narendra Modi government.
This was brought forward by Gaurav Gogoi, the Deputy Leader of the Congress party. The Speaker assured that he would consult with leaders from all political parties and subsequently announce an appropriate time to deliberate on the motion.
Earlier that day, Congress leaders stated that they considered a no-confidence motion as a means to compel the government to address the situation in Manipur. In response to the Opposition members demanding a discussion on the Manipur issue in the Lok Sabha, the proceedings were disrupted, leading to an adjournment until 2 pm.
Furthermore, Mallikarjun Kharge, the Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, addressed a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, expressing concerns about the chaos in Parliament related to the Manipur situation. In the letter, Kharge emphasized that the Opposition urges the Prime Minister to make a statement in Parliament regarding the Manipur situation, and they believe that a thorough discussion on this matter should occur in both houses of parliament.
यह अविश्वास प्रस्ताव जो हम नियम 198 के तहत लेकर आए हैं, वह महज कांग्रेस का नहीं बल्कि INDIA के सभी घटक दलों का सामूहिक अविश्वास प्रस्ताव है।
