With an interesting development, on July 11, 2023, the 24/7 Kannada news channel Power TV introduced Soundarya, Kannada’s first AI news presenter.
Soundarya refers to herself as a “robot anchor” and highlighted the growing influence of artificial intelligence in various industries, including the TV news industry. While robot anchors have already gained popularity in North Indian news channels, this launch marks the first instance of a robot news anchor in South India. Soundarya aims to bring a new dimension to news presentation through the use of AI technology.
