There were some exciting and highlighted moments at Wimbledon 2023. Novak Djokovic’s fourth-round match against Hubert Hurkacz was suspended.
During Wimbledon, Novak Djokovic’s fourth-round match against Hubert Hurkacz was suspended due to the 11 pm curfew, and they will resume their match on Monday. Djokovic had won two tiebreaks and was leading by two sets, while Hurkacz had a missed opportunity in the first set.
In another match, Iga Swiatek made a thrilling comeback after saving two match points against Belinda Bencic. Swiatek, the World No. 1, battled from a set down and showed her class in the third set to reach her first Wimbledon quarter-finals.
Hubert Hurkacz has won 58 straight service games at Wimbledon and saved 16/16 break points while trailing Djokovic, two sets to love.
It is anticipated that Matteo Berrettini versus Carlo Salcaraz is going to be an epic match.
However, there was some controversy involving Victoria Azarenka. After her defeat to Elina Svitolina, Azarenka blamed “drunk” fans in the Wimbledon crowd and was booed off the court. It’s unfortunate when such incidents occur and detract from the spirit of the game.
After Azarenka was horribly booed at Wimbledon, Azarenka and Svitolina urged more awareness of the Ukraine-Russian War.
Ukraine’s Elina Svitolina gave an emotional speech after she reached the Wimbledon quarter-finals saying, “Back home there are lots of people cheering for me.”
