Kerala’s Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, has embarked on an eight-day trip to the United States of America and Cuba. On Friday, he arrived in New York City.

During his visit, the Chief Minister will participate in the regional conference of Loka Kerala Sabha, an assembly of expatriates from Kerala, at Times Square in New York on June 10.

Dr. M. Anirudhan, the Director of NORKA, and Manmadhan Nair, the President of the Organizing Committee, welcomed the Chief Minister at the airport. Accompanying him were his wife, Kamala Vijayan, Finance Minister KN Balagopal, and Speaker AN Shamseer.

On June 9, the Chief Minister will pay his respects at the 9/11 Memorial and visit the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

Additionally, he will address a public gathering of Malayali emigrants at Times Square on June 11. Prior to that, he will attend an investors’ meeting and engage in discussions with experts from various fields.

On June 12, the Chief Minister has scheduled a meeting with Martin Raiser, the World Bank Vice President for the South Asia Region. He will then visit the Waste Management system in Maryland on June 13. Subsequently, he will depart for Havana on June 14, spending two days in Cuba before returning to Kerala.

The three-day Lok Kerala Sabha will take place at the Marriott Markway Hotel in Times Square. Chief Secretary VP Joy, NORKA Resident Vice Chairman P Sreeramakrishnan, NORKA Principal Secretary Suman Billa, and Lok Kerala Sabha Director K Vasuki are also attending the event.

During the conference, Rajya Sabha member Dr. John Brittas will present a paper on “The Role and Cooperation Possibilities of American Malayalis in Shaping the Future of Kerala.” Chief Secretary VP Joy will deliver a speech on “Malayalam Language and Culture: Exploring the Potential for Cultural Propagation among the New Generation of American Malayalis.” Dr. K Vasuki will discuss “The Future and Challenges of Malayalam American Migration.”
