A tragic incident occurred on the outskirts of the city when a bus carrying pilgrims met with an accident on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway near Jhajjar Kotli. The unfortunate event resulted in the loss of ten lives, with approximately 40 individuals sustaining injuries.

According to an official, the bus was transporting pilgrims from Amritsar to Katra when the driver lost control as the vehicle approached Jhajjar Kotli on Tuesday morning. Subsequently, the bus veered off the road and plunged into a deep gorge.

The official further stated that immediate rescue efforts were initiated by the police and local residents. The injured were promptly attended to, with five individuals in critical condition being swiftly transported to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Jammu. The remaining injured victims were admitted to the Primary Health Centre in Dansal.

The Deputy Commissioner of Jammu, Avny Lavasa, also confirmed the occurrence of the accident.
