According to Israel’s national emergency medical service (Magen David Adom, MDA), a building in the city of Rehovot, located 17 miles south of Tel Aviv, was hit by a missile, resulting in one fatality and seven injuries on Thursday.
MDA paramedics confirmed that one person died, four are in moderate condition, one is slightly injured, and two are in shock. The deceased had suffered multiple injuries, and the five injured were taken to Kaplan Hospital. The day before, air raid sirens were heard several times in southern Israel.
On Thursday, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, an Islamist paramilitary group in the Gaza Strip, escalated its missile attacks against Israel after the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) killed several of its commanders responsible for rocket attacks against Israel, according to the IDF.
The IDF launched “Operation Shield and Arrow” on Tuesday night, targeting militants in the Gaza Strip and their infrastructure, including rocket launchers and mortars. In response, Palestinian Islamic Jihad militants fired 469 rockets at Israel on Wednesday.
As a result of Israeli strikes against the Gaza Strip, the Palestinian Health Ministry reported on Thursday that 25 people were killed, and 76 were injured.
