Earlier today, a devastating fire broke out at Saraf House near Raj Bhawan in West Bengal, causing panic among the occupants of nearby offices in downtown Kolkata. The fire is still burning and thick smoke can be seen emanating from the building.
Governor C V Ananda Bose personally took charge of the situation and oversaw the efforts to contain the fire.Ten fire tenders have been deployed to the scene, while Fire Brigade Minister Sujit Bose and Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Kumar Goyal rushed to inspect the situation.
Local Congress Councillor Santosh Pathak was also present. The Minister has already ordered for a ladder to be brought in to help combat the fire. The roof of the building has already collapsed, and explosions from air conditioners have been heard.
Thankfully, everyone has been evacuated to safety. Firefighters are working tirelessly to put out the blaze. The affected building houses several offices and the cause of the fire is still unknown at this time.
