Karnataka clashes; Congress alleges BJP bribing voters with sarees which they threw back

Many injured in clashes in Karnataka between BJP, and Congress, meanwhile, Congress alleges the BJP is bribing voters by giving them sarees.

With a 37.25% voter turnout recorded till 1 pm; several were wounded in clashes between BJP, and Congress workers in Ballari Karnataka Assembly Elections 2023. Over 5.2 crore voters will cast their votes to elect a new government in Karnataka today.

There were a total of 5,31,33,054 electors eligible to cast their votes in 58,545 polling stations across the state, where 2,615 candidates are in the fight for the 224-member Karnataka Assembly.

Ashish Singh:  “BJP MLA and BJP leaders in KR Pete tried to bribe voters by giving them Sarees and other items.

The villagers went and threw the gifts back saying they don’t need his ‘Bhikshe’ and went to vote against BJP.
We will vote against BJP 🔥🔥”

Former Karnataka Chief Minister and Congress leader K Siddaramaiah cast his vote in the Varuna Assembly constituency in Karnataka and even visited the temple earlier in the morning before exercising his franchise.

In the meantime, the Karnataka Veerashaiva Lingayat forum bats for Congress and issued an official letter extending its support to Congress in the upcoming Karnataka Assembly elections on elections on May 10. Forum urged the people of the Lingayat community to vote for Congress.

Beaming, the wife of Basavaraj Bommai said, “he will win with more than 50,000 votes. BJP is winning the election and will get more than 150 seats.”

In unrelated incidents, according to Indian Express, two voters died during the polling process. While a 70-year-old woman died while standing in the queue at a booth in Belagavi district, Jayanna, 49, died minutes after voting at Chikkole, Belur.
