During an official visit to India on May 9, Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss ways to deepen bilateral cooperation.
PM Modi tweeted about the meeting, highlighting the priority areas of agriculture, water, innovation, and people-to-people tiesThe Israeli Foreign Minister praised PM Modi as “a true friend of Israel” and expressed his happiness to meet with him to discuss strengthening strategic relations, expanding the Abraham Accords, and promoting a free trade agreementCohen also met with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh, and NSA Ajit Doval to discuss defense and security cooperation.
The two ministers visited the Teen Murti Haifa Chowk to pay homage to Indian soldiers and symbolize the enduring friendship between the two countriesDuring the visit, both sides signed various agreements and exchanged Letters of Intent to deepen collaboration in areas such as water technology and innovation in agriculture.
The visit is seen as an opportunity to further strengthen the extensive strategic relationship between India and Israel, which has remained on a qualitatively higher trajectory since Prime Minister Modi’s historic visit to Israel in 2017.
