Will not allow NRC, division of Muslim votes in Bengal, Mamata tells Eid congregation, we want peace in Bengal. We don’t want riots.’
Speaking to the Eid congregation at the Red Road in Calcutta on Saturday, Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee reiterated her pledge to not allow the implementation of NRC in the state.
“Today the Constitution is being changed and the country’s history is being altered. They are doing whatever pleases them. Now they have brought back NRC. I have said I will not implement it in Bengal. I don’t know what will happen in other states, but here I won’t allow it to be implemented,” Banerjee said while taking on the BJP, albeit without naming the party.
She said, ‘Some people are trying to divide the country and practice the politics of hate…We want peace in Bengal. We don’t want riots’
During her speech at the Eid congregation in Calcutta’s Red Road, Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee stated that she opposes NRC implementation in the state and aims to prevent the division of Muslim votes.
She voiced her commitment to maintaining peace in Bengal and avoiding any form of conflict. Banerjee also condemned the political tactics of certain groups who aim to spread hatred and cause unrest. Without explicitly referring to the BJP, she criticized the party’s actions and accused them of altering the country’s history by changing the Constitution.
