Congress leader shot dead in Punjab, Congress asks if this is new norm

IndiaCongress leader shot dead in Punjab, Congress asks if this is new norm

Congress leader Major Singh Dhaliwal was shot dead by a woman in Punjab’s Tarn Taran on Monday, police said.

The woman fired several shots at Congress leader Major Singh Dhaliwal near a marriage palace owned by him, said police where she fired several shots at the Congress leader in Sangwa village in the bordering town of Patti. Two bullets hit him and he died, police said.

Mr Dhaliwal was the chairman of the Patti market committee during the Congress regime.   Senior Superintendent of Police, Tarn Taran, Gurmeet Chauhan said the woman was related to Mr Dhaliwal and allegedly killed him because of some personal reasons.

Police teams have been dispatched to arrest the accused, they said. Mr. Dhaliwal was the chairman of the Patti market committee during the previous Congress regime.

Last year, Congress leader and famous singer in Punjab Sidhu Moose Wala had been shot dead in broad daylight setting shockwaves through India.

AAP In Denial of the Lawlessness in Punjab

All this occurred after the AAP government won Punjab and while AAP claims that Punjab is the perfect epitome of peace and order, others react to their inability to accept the chaos.   Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Friday expressed shock over Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s claim that the Aam Aadmi Party’s model on law and order was now number one in the country.

He said, “it is shameful that an elected CM is outrightly lying on such a sensitive issue at a time when Punjabis are plagued by the law of the jungle and breakdown of communal relations”.

The first 21 days of AAP’s rule saw 19 murders, including two famous kabbadi players (Sandeep Singh ‘Nangal Ambian’ and Dharminder Singh).  Punjab experienced a brutal takeover of truck unions that involved leaders associated with the new government.

There was also recovery of explosive device near the Burail Jail in Chandigarh; clashes in Patiala among two groups; RPG attack on Punjab intelligence headquarters; recovery of RDX in Tarn Taran; and brutal gunning down of Sidhu Moose Wala that all tanspired since the AAP took over.

The jubulent Punjabi spirit are being dampened by signs of revival of extremist elements, a matter of grave concern as neither Punjab nor India can afford resurgence of terror in another border state. These events clearly show that the AAP government has an inability to bring peace and law and order situation in the state, which will in turn affect the prosperity and growth of the state.

Crime is roaming the streets due to misplaced priorities and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has revealed his ablity to maintain peace.  People have easy access to guns and shooting anyone is becoming a new way of life.

Congress supporters said, “Shocking! Firing bullets and killing in broad daylight is the new normal in Punjab under AAP Government.”
