A complaint was lodged against the BJP Karnataka unit for a misleading tweet about the “supari killing” of former corporator Rekha Kadiresh.
The tweet in question was after Rekha Kadiresh was brutally murdered and the BJP Karnataka responded to the gory incident by asking “Tell me that. Who gave supari to kill Rekha Kadiresh, former corporator of Chhalavadi Palya?” But the actual truth is Rekha’s murder is a story of a family feud and gang war.

The ex-corporator’s sister-in-law and nephew prepared her murder with the driver whose name was dropped from the rowdy sheet in 2018. Earlier, the city police had dropped the name of Peter, the prime accused in the murder of former corporator Rekha Kadiresh, from the rowdy sheet in 2018.
At the time Peter was an intimate confidante of the husband of Rekha, Kadiresh, who was murdered months later by the associates of another rowdy. As Kadiresh wanted to enter politics since 2010 but was denied an electoral ticket due to his criminal background, he used Rekha to contest for corporator of Chalavadipalya ward and she won.
At that time Kadiresh used his influence to drop Peter’s name from the rowdy sheet even though he had at least six cases against him — two murders, three robberies, and one assault.
Peter used to be a driver and bodyguard for Kadiresh and his wife Rekha, but his loyalty was towards Kadiresh. Kadiresh was hacked to death by the associates of one Jhopdi Rajendra, to avenge his death in a gang war. After he died, Rekha is said to have started distancing herself from Peter and stopped finances to him as she wanted to maintain a clean image. She also appointed another associate to take care of her political activities and sidelined Peter.
Peter, a father of five children, who was building a house financed by Kadiresh, was put in financial distress and took to his older jobs such as drug peddling and petty crimes. Even then the police did not include his name in the rowdy sheet. Rekha’s sister-in-law Mala (Kadiresh’s elder sister) and her son Arul had issues with Rekha after Kadiresh’s death because she is said to have started seizing Kadiresh’s wealth.
Mala was into the illegal arrack (hooch) business in the 1990s until it was banned after a hooch tragedy in East Bengaluru. She then developed her network with drug peddlers and became a key player in ganja procuring and sale. After Kadiresh’s death, Mala’s son Arul learned that Rekha had a soft corner for the accused in Kadiresh’s murder.
Arul is said to have started rumors in their family that Rekha was planning to break away from Kadiresh’s family. Mala, Arul, and a few associates organized a secret meeting with Peter to eliminate Rekha in March this year. Later, a group headed by Peter executed the murder on Thursday.
Mala, Arul, and five others including Peter have been arrested. The flower garden area of the Chalavadipalya has a 20-year history of gang wars and murders for which the police in no time, identify rowdy elements and open rowdy sheets against them – so that their movements are tracked and phone calls tapped.
The area is surrounded by four police stations – Cottonpet police station, JJ Nagar police station, Chamrajpet police station, and the CCB head office with the Organised Crime Wing, but the police failed to prevent the hacking of a former woman corporator in broad daylight. “It is a mystery why Peter was not rowdy sheet ed though accused in two murders, three robberies, and an assault,” said a police source.
Thus, a case has been registered against the BJP Karnataka for using its powerful position to spread misinformation about a case under investigation.
