“Wasn’t Vijaya Gadde” “it was Amit Malviya” who controlled Indian Twitter

Anand Ranganathan said it wasn’t Vijaya Gadde who censored voices, deleted tweets, blocked accounts, it was Amit Malviya

There are clouds of voices buzzing furiously against Vijaya Gadde, and one revelation shared by The Wire is setting people on the wings of fury that it seems it wasn’t Vijaya Gadde who censored voices, deleted tweets, blocked accounts and suppressed the Hunter Biden Laptop story; it was BJP’s Amit Malviya.

Anand Ranganathan tweeted, “EXPLOSIVE revelations on Twitter Files by
@thewire_in : turns out it wasn’t Vijaya Gadde who censored voices, deleted tweets, blocked accounts, and suppressed the Hunter Biden Laptop story; it was
@amitmalviya.  Amit Malviya should be arrested immediately and tried for this crime.”

Matt Wallace, American CEO tweeted, “The former head lawyer for Twitter, Vijaya Gadde, tried desperately to stop Elon Musk from buying Twitter. She failed. Now he is exposing EVERYTHING that she wanted to hide.”

A digital lynch mob of mostly right-wing activists is calling for action against former Twitter executive Vijaya Gadde following the disclosure of internal emails that suggested she was instrumental in canning the so-called Hunter Biden laptop expose that showed the President’s son in poor light.

The episode relates to the President’s son Hunter Biden dropping off his laptop for repairs at a Delaware store just before the 2020 election. The repair store owner found private photos of Hunter Biden pointing to debauched partying, among other stuff exposing an unsettled life. While the right-wing media went out to share the story with photographs, the liberal media largely trashed its authenticity protecting Biden’s son to safeguard the outcome of the 2020 Presidential election.

Journalist Matt Taibbi published several internal emails that appeared to show staffers editing tweets at the behest of the Joe Biden 2020 presidential campaign.  One of the email exchanges has Democratic Indian-American Congressman Ro Khanna reaching out to Gadde to express concern over Twitter’s policies.

Gadde, who headed the platform’s trust and safety, legal, and public policy under previous CEOs Parag Agrawal and Jack Dorsey before him, defends the policy, suggesting that private material obtained from a hacked computer should not be posted on Twitter.

Elon Musk, who had voiced unhappiness over Gadde even while he was negotiating to buy the company, wasted no time in firing her just hours after his takeover.

She is also facing rage for not removing child pornography as the censor chief even though the victim’s parents begged for its removal.

But now the right wing wants greater retribution. Activists and trolls scorched Gadde after the internal email was published, saying she “had more interference in the US election than Russia/Putin ever did”. Some demanded she be tried for treason. Fringe groups from India joined them in fury over purported “censorship” that saw many accounts suspended, particularly for disseminating what Twitter’s previous liberal dispensation saw as lies, and called for violence.

Gadde has been on the “hit list” of the fringe right-wing who believe she was instrumental in shutting down conservative pro-Trump voices on Twitter, including initiating a lifetime ban on the former President that Musk revoked.

She had also triggered outrage in India during a visit by Twitter founder Jack Dorsey when some blamed her for him holding up a placard that read “Smash Brahmin Patriarchy”.

Gadde had later apologized for the incident, saying it was not reflective of Twitter’s views and it was meant to be a private photo with a gift just given to the visiting delegation.

Migrating to the United States as a three-year-old, Gadde grew up in Beaumont, Texas, a state overflowing with racism (nearby Vidor was known as one of the most hateful places in Texas where Blacks had to leave town before sundown).

One of the interesting incidents she shared was when her out-of-work chemical engineer father was told by his boss to get permission from a local Ku Klux Klan leader to go door to door collecting insurance premiums. In June 2020, she turfed out KKK leader David Duke from the platform.  Today, Gadde is facing fire for multiple reasons in a strange paradox because even if their ideals are clashing, Musk’s new groups support each other.
