Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar, the alleged mastermind behind the brutal murder of the celebrated Punjabi rapper singer-politician Sidhu Moose Wala, is being monitored by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in California, according to top intelligence sources.
Unconfirmed reports on Friday also asserted that Brar had been detained in California. However, authorities in California are yet to make any official statement.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) would formally request for Brar’s deportation, the above-mentioned sources said, adding that filing of a case against him will take time.
Satinderjeet Singh, alias Brar, a native of Sri Muktsar Sahib in Punjab, had gone to Canada on a student visa in 2017 and he is an active member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Brar is also a key conspirator in a Dera Sacha Sauda follower’s murder last month.
The development came a day after Moose Wala’s father demanded that the Union government announced a reward of Rs 2 crore for any information that leads to the arrest of Brar. Balkaur Singh said he was even ready to pay the reward from his own pocket if the government was unable to give out the high amount.
Moose Wala’s father welcomed the news of Brar’s detention and also hit out at the Punjab government, saying it is not taking the matter seriously. “People are very upset and in fear due to gangsters like Goldie and Jaggu Bhagwanpuria,” he said.
Sidhu Moose Wala’s Murder
Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, popularly known as Sidhu Moose Wala, was shot dead in Punjab’s Mansa district on May 29. The man behind it is Brar, who is a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, and they claimed the responsibility for the murder.
Goldy Brar is considered to be a close associate of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who is currently in NIA custody.
A court in Punjab’s Faridkot district last year issued an open-ended non-bailable arrest warrant against Goldy Brar over the killing of Youth Congress leader Gurlal Singh Pehalwan, who was shot at 12 times by two unidentified assailants in Faridkot.
Brar later claimed he had killed Sidhu Moose Wala to avenge the death of youth Akali leader Vicky Middukhera. Middukhera was said to be very close to Lawrence Bishnoi.
The law and order situation in Punjab is spiraling out of control and the governance of AAP has not been strong enough to curb it, according to political critics. Recently, a Shiv Sena leader was murdered in the presence of the Punjab police.
