Several EVM machines have been caught in a private vehicle after polling in Himachal Pradesh causing outrage.
Sources report that presently, “the Election Commission has suspended the entire team including the election officer for taking the EVM machines. Indignant citizens ask, “When will EVM machines be completely safe? Election Commission will conduct like this ‘One Nation One Election?”
Nand Tara tweeted, “Will @ECISVEEP stop betraying the nation’s mandate in choosing their leaders? There will be karma for cheating in the #HimachalPradeshElections.
Why are #EVM machines constantly found in random places

This year in March 2022 in Manipur, Congress claimed 2 BJP workers tried to run away with the EVM machine and one man was shot dead
2019 EVM Transfers
In 2019, several videos of EVMs being stored and moved from one unauthorized storage house to another appeared on Twitter. While some machines are seen stored at local shops, others are seen stacked in the boot of private vehicles.
Multiple videos of EVMs stacked in cars, shops surfaced on Twitter
Several videos of EVMs being stored in private vehicles and shops emerged days before the results of the Lok Sabha elections were declared.
In one such video, purportedly shot in Uttar Pradesh’s Chandauli, a group of men can be seen unloading scores of voting machines and VVPAT machines stacking them up inside a shop.
Another video was shared shot in Punjab and two EVMs and a VVPAT machine were found lying in a car.
There was evidence of EVM machines found in a car with no security in Punjab. People protested at Jangipur Mandi Samiti demanding security in the EVMs strongroom. Another EVMs video was from UP from Jhansi. While officials claim these are reserve machines, they had no answer why the movement of EVM was not informed to candidates.
People ask why reserve EVMs are transported in private vehicles a day after the election.
The United States, like other developed countries, feels safer using paper ballots to vote. Nearly 70% of registered voters live in jurisdictions that primarily use hand-marked paper ballots, according to data from Verified Voting. About 23% of registered voters live in jurisdictions that primarily use machines called ballot-marking devices.
Reports have it that Americans feel safer using paper ballots as compared to electronic voting machines, as Indians do.
There is a fear the 2024 elections will be hacked due to the EVM transfers but no political leaders are doing much to change things.
