Ocasio-Cortez shared a post claiming that her Twitter mentions/notifications stopped working following her exchange with Elon Musk.
After Elon Musk became the new owner of the microblogging platform, reports suggested that verified Twitter users will soon have to pay a fee to retain their blue tick, which authenticates the identity of the account holder and the Tesla CEO and billionaire Elon Musk irked a lot of people after his takeover of Twitter.
His his decision to charge $8 dollars for a month for keeping the blue tick, a symbol that sets aside verified users, many users are also glad about the move and as one Twitter user @bhavi_kap Bhavika Kapoor said, “It’s a good idea. It will finish the arbitrary approach and status symbol.”
Replying to the Congresswoman, Elon Musk restated his stance on the blue tick fee and jested, “Your feedback is appreciated, now pay $8”.
Just a day after sharing her views on the contentious matter, Ocasio-Cortez shared another post claiming that her Twitter mentions/notifications stopped working following her exchange with Elon Musk. “Also my Twitter mentions/notifications conveniently aren’t working tonight, so I was informed via text that I seem to have gotten under a certain billionaire’s skin,” the politician wrote.
Elon Musk went further against the US politician and, in a tweet, highlighted the price of a sweatshirt listed on Ocasio-Cortez’s website. Sharing a picture of the product, he drew a circle over its price tag of $58. Ocasio-Cortez rose to her defense pointing out that her workers make a living wage, have full healthcare, and aren’t subject to racist treatment in their workplaces. “Team AOC honors and respects working people,” said Cortez.
While many have expressed their disapproval of overcharging $8 for the verified badge, Musk has argued that the fee is reasonable.
Later in the day, Ocasio-Cortez said “One guy’s business plan for a $44 billion over-leveraged purchase is apparently to run around and individually ask people for $8.”
In retaliation, Elon Musk trolls his complainers with memes!
Since the start of Elon Musk’s announcement to charge $8 for the Blue Tick to Twitter users, a debate has exploded among netizens about whether the move is reasonable or not. A lot of people are complaining about Musk’s charging for a service that was free before. However, Musk is all set to shut his critics with memes, sarcasm, and tweets.
He points out that grumbles who are upset for charging money for Blue Tick happily pay a lot of money elsewhere and shared some memes for them. In one of the memes, he criticized people for buying $8 Starbucks coffee but hollering to pay $8 for blue tick for 30 days.
In another tweet, he posted a sweatshirt photo of a brand that costs $58 and put a thinking emoji. Another Twitter user replying to his tweet posted another meme criticizing complainers.
