In Bihar, 30 people including 7 policemen were injured when a cooking gas cylinder exploded in the Shahganj locality of Bihar.

The cooking gas explosion happened in the Aurangabad district on Saturday. “All the injured have been admitted to a local hospital where their condition was stated to be out of danger”, police informed.

Police said here that women of a family of one Anil Goswami were preparing traditional prasad (offerings) for the Chhath festival in the locality under the Town police station’s jurisdiction area when the cooking gas cylinder started leaking and catching fire.

The victim’s family members and locals tried to put out the fire, but they could not succeed and the inferno was slowly engulfing a larger area of the house, police added. “A patrolling party of local police station also reached the spot when they learned about the incident”, police said adding that the cylinder suddenly exploded while attempts were being made to douse the fire.

At least 30 people including seven policemen sustained burn injuries in the incident, police further added. Senior officials were supervising relief and rescue operations, police stated
