Rafeeq and Ramizuddin two bedsheet sellers brutally attacked

IndiaRafeeq and Ramizuddin two bedsheet sellers brutally attacked

The attacks on Muslims in two states of India, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh are increasing and simple arguments turn lethal.

In a recent incident, two Muslims, Rafeeq and Ramizuddin two bedsheet sellers were brutally attacked by a mob in Kaniyoor.

They had an argument with a few women while selling sheets over price. After they left, they were waylaid and beaten by a mob.

“We are merchants we went for doing business, they beat us fatally.  Don’t know which village was that.  They said you have no chance here.  You will be finished here itself,  You won’t come here again, remembering saying that they beat us so much.”

He went on to say, “For 2 hours they were beating us with sticks, swords handle, they even rammed us with a bike.”  They put stones on our backs.”

In other terrible incidents, Muslims are being harassed.  Whether it is the hijab issue, the beef ban along with lynching, toxic arguments about their worship or blasphemy, or bulldozing down their homes, the nightmare is not ending.

A lady shared on Twitter, “Uttar Pradesh – Sultanpur Police in collaboration with a Hindu mob is continuously oppressing Muslims, burning their houses, looting goods, rape of Muslim women has also come to the fore,

All this is being done by the Sanghis and the police, it is the allegation of the victim’s family and the local women.”

Bulldozers roll out on Kanpur streets to demolish the properties of rioters that were involved in the violence that broke out on June 3.

Local Muslim leader Zafar Hayat Hashmi is said to be the main accused of the violence that broke out. Bulldozers have reached the doors of Zafar Hayat Hashmi’s residence to carry out the demolition and Police and administration are present at the site where the demolition drive is being carried out.

This was the first time in India that violence was flaring on Ram Navami. Earlier, violence in the Jawaharlal Nehru University campus in Delhi erupted on a Sunday after a dispute over non-vegetarian food being served on campus that left several left-wing students wounded and bleeding.

In other parts of India, one person was also killed in Khambat town in Gujarat’s Anand district and houses, mosques, and shops were set on fire in Khargone as the communal violence, after an attack on a Ram Navami procession, spread to different parts of the city by late Sunday night.

Curfew was clamped in Madhya Pradesh’s Khargone city and at least 84 people were arrested there. One person was also killed in Khambat town in Gujarat’s Anand district while there were some reports of violence in West Bengal’s Howrah district, adjoining Kolkata, after a Ram Navami procession.

There is a concern all over the world over the treatment meted out to minorities in India and especially Muslims at this time.  In April this year, Mehdi Hasan television host from Washington DC spoke on his show, clearly agitated about how the BJP is trying to create a lost Hindu Kingdom called Hindu Rashtra, openly championing Hindu nationalists’ supremacist ideology. He said in horror that scholars are now literally warning about an impending genocide in India.

Mehdi Hasan ended soberly by asking, “What will it take for Western governments to speak out on this issue? He asks on a final strong note that hits hard, “How many more Indian Muslims or Christians need to die?”

A dangerous politics of divide and rule is being played out which is destroying the harmony and economy of the nation.  When will the people wake up?
