Mob attacks church in Punjab, sets pastor’s car on fire

IndiaMob attacks church in Punjab, sets pastor's car on fire

“A church is attacked and pastor’s car set on fire in Punjab, India – No minority is safe in the world’s so-called largest democracy!”

Local men reportedly entered a local church forcefully and vandalized a Jesus and Mary statue, hours after the Akal Takht Jathedar, the highest seat of the Sikh temporal authority in Amritsar, spoke against alleged forced conversions by Christian missionaries.
CCTV cameras recorded both instances of vandalism.

Sandeep Lubana, an Independent Journalist from Punjab reports while showing the videos, “A car belonging to church pastor sat on fire and statue of Mariam vandalised in a village of Punjab’s Tarantaran district, according to Punjabi Media.  Here you can see a Mariam statue vandalised. Three days ago, Nihangs disturbed a program of Christian missionaries.”

Earlier, about 150 Nihang Sikhs, members of the Sikh warrior clan, were booked earlier this week for disrupting a Christian event in Amritsar.  The event had been organized by Christian missionaries in Daduana Village and the men were booked under serious Indian Penal Code (IPC) charges.  Speaking in support of the Nihangs, the Jathedar announced a meeting on ‘forced conversions’ at Anandpur Sahib on September 5.

Speaking to NDTV, Singh said, “So-called Christian missionaries have been forcibly converting Sikhs through fraudulent practices…This is happening right under the government’s nose…No government is ready to act against them (missionaries) due to vote bank politics.”
He further claimed that foreign funding from across the border is helping missionaries run such religious campaigns, and requested the central government to control it immediately.

According to Tarn Taran SSP RS Dhillon, four men committed the act.
“Few notorious elements tried to vandalize idol of Jesus and set ablaze a car at Chruch in Patti. We’re investigating the matter & have vital clues,” he told ANI.
Meanwhile, church officials said the men threatened their security guard at gunpoint and spent 25 minutes on the premises.

Several Sikh leaders have spoken against ‘forced conversions’ by Christian missionaries in Punjab.  In April, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, who joined the BJP in 2021, said mass conversions keep happening because pastors “lure people with dramatic acts’.

AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal has supported the anti-conversion law, which Christians say will criminalize Christianity.  In the absence of a law against forced conversions, AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal said in January, “We need a law but it must not be misused.”

Famous professor Ashok Swain says, “Church is attacked and a pastor’s car set on fire in Punjab, India – No minority is safe in the world’s so-called largest democracy!”

Conversions Never Forced, Christians Under Attack!

Conversion claims are high, but Punjabi Christian minorities have existed for centuries in Punjab.  Once again, conversion is a free choice, all religion has also expanded in the world through conversions.  No religion in the world can claim that they just comprehended their religions, since the start of the world. Religions evolved and spread.

The 2008 massacre of Christians saw the death of nearly 500 Christians in Odhisa, an event that is highly covered up.

Christianity is still only 2% in India, not a fast-moving religion.  The first few converts to Christianity in Punjab in the early 19th century were Sadhu Sundar Singh and Bhakt Singh, both initially adverse to Christians who had spiritual experiences and became passionate Christians, started sharing their faith in the villages and that was how Christianity spread in Punjab.

Most of the English-speaking people in India studied in Christian missionary schools and there were hundreds of these missionary schools scattered over India! Did anyone force them to believe in Christ? If that was so, then all would be Christians today, which is not the case. In the 2000s, Christian missions ran 16,500 schools and 6,500 hospitals in India. L. K. Advani ji, late Arun Jaitley and many others studied in missionary schools, and we cannot say that people are converting all over because of these schools or hospitals.

Today, in India when Christians gather on Sunday mornings to worship God, their church doors are rammed open, pastors and even the congregation in the church are beaten, sometimes so badly that they break their legs, break the churches and the Hindu fundamentalists make reports to the police that these Christians are converting the people to Christ.

People gather in a house for a prayer meeting and the Hindu extremists barge in to stop them, declaring they cannot do that, as this is a Hindu country. (India is declared as a secular democratic republic by our constitution. We now ask, “Is not the law protecting Christians anymore? Today, hundreds of churches have been stopped and shut down. The Hindutva group barged in and demanded who is funding them.

Today, pastors are taken to prison, or lockup for claims of conversion. The violates are never punished for beating and even for killing Christians because most of their reports are not taken by the cops.

The converted do so by free will.  Offering booty never works because people can take the benefits and go into their own faiths.  Conversion in the East has a hard price, loss of property, ostracism, and even loss of lives.

The western countries give Hindus the freedom to believe in their faith and many even propagate their faith through ISKCON which is evangelistic in its outreach. Westerners have embraced Hinduism, and they sure are not persecuted by their government for it.

There seems to be fake propaganda about conversion going on that gives the attackers the falsified “right” to attack Christians and churches, while spreading hate against a community.  Unless the government does not take it seriously, it will lead to genocide.
