SpiceJet on Tuesday said it has cleared all pending dues with the Airports Authority of India (AAI). With this, the airline will revert to an advanced payment mechanism for daily flight operations, they said,

The AAI will release SpiceJet’s Rs 50 crore bank guarantee following the airline clearing all its principal dues. This will result in additional liquidity for the airline, a statement from the company said. The airline recently came under the scanner after a series of incidents of technical snags raising safety concerns.

Aviation regulator the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on July 27 restricted SpiceJet flights to 50 percent of the summer schedule for eight weeks. In its order, the DGCA said SpiceJet has failed to establish a safe, efficient and reliable air transport service.

SpiceJet has flown with the highest passenger load factor in the Indian skies for a record seven years. Starting April 2015, SpiceJet has recorded the highest occupancy among all Indian domestic airlines – a feat unparalleled in global aviation. The airline also holds a high reputation for having flown with a Passenger Load Factor (PLF) of more than 90 percent for a record 58 consecutive months.

Domestically, the carrier covers India with the airline operating to 51 domestic destinations.
