Arms license for #Bollywood superstar #SalmanKhan following his application for seeking self-protection after receiving #deaththreat letters.
Mumbai Police has granted an arms license to superstar Salman Khan following his request application seeking the arms license for self-protection after he and his father Salim Khan received death threat letters.
The license was issued after completing all formalities and the document was collected by the actor’s representative from the Commissioner’s Office, sources said.
The actor and his father and veteran scriptwriter Salim Khan got death threats in early June, just days after singer-rapper and politician Sidhu Moosewala was shot dead near Punjab’s Mansa. The authorities started a basic investigation after Khan met the Mumbai Police Commissioner last month. The actor visited the Mumbai Police headquarters late last month to meet with Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar for the gun license.
He wanted to own a gun to protect himself and his family, the sources said.
There had been reports that Salman Khan has upgraded to an armoured and bulletproof Land Cruiser ever since the threats. However, Salman Khan also drives a cycle and it is a guess that he must have stopped that now.
It is said that Lawrence Bishnoi’s death threat to Salman Khan was linked to the blackbuck poaching case of 1998, in which Salman was one of the accused.
The actor’s father had found the unsigned letter on a bench where he sits daily after jogging in the morning.
The letter that the actor received in Hindi said that both Salim Khan and his son would soon meet the same fate as murdered singer Siddhu Moosewala (‘Tera Moosawala bana denge’).
Earlier in 2018 when the trial of the blackbuck poaching case was underway, Bishnoi had allegedly threatened the actor because in his community blackbucks are considered sacred.
