The 24 #suspendedMPs from both houses continue with their 50-hour long #dharna inside #Parliament on Thursday.
The 24 suspended MPs are demanding immediate revocation of their suspension and are protesting their suspension from the Houses saying they only demanded a discussion on price rise, GST rate hike, etc calling the issues- urgent.
The 24 MPs – 20 in Rajya Sabha and 4 in Lok Sabha- have been suspended during the Monsoon Session of Parliament. The suspended MPs belong to Congress, DMK, AITC, TRS, CPI, CPM, and AAP.
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that there has been a 170 percent increase in the suspension of MPs under the current government as compared to UPA.
Four Congress MPs were suspended in Lok Sabha for the entire Monsoon Session ending August 12 for holding placards inside the house despite warnings by Speaker Om Birla.
The “50 hours non-stop dharna by Opposition MPs. 21 hours done. 29 hours to go. Revoke suspension of 24 MPs. Discuss price rise, GST,” said AITC MP Derek O’ Brien in a tweet.
Brien also shared some pictures of the MPs passing their night out in the open under the sky. Fresh videos of the protest shared by MPs with UNI on Thursday show them holding placards against price rise and hike in GST rate.
The 19 Rajya Sabha MPs were suspended on Tuesday for the remaining part of the week for unruly behaviour and for creating ruckus in the well of the House despite repeated warnings by the Chair.
The AAP lawmaker Sanjay Singh was suspended on Wednesday for the remaining part of the current week as he tore up some papers on Tuesday at and threw the same toward the Chair.
The Opposition parties in the Rajya Sabha protested the move to suspend 19 of its MPs raising ‘We want justice’ slogans inside the House.
