Student Nishank Rathore’s mysterious death was suspected to be a murder due to a chilling text the father received and investigations are on.
Home minister Narottam Mishra has ordered Raisen police to constitute an SIT to probe the mysterious death of an engineering student Nishank Rathore, whose body was seen on the railway tracks near Midghat station, around 60 km from Bhopal, on Sunday evening.
Raisen police are going through the phone of victim Nishank Rathore and recorded statements of his family and friends on Tuesday. While police suspect he died by suicide, his father Umashankar Rathore rejects this theory and says the youth was never depressed or suicidal.
Nishank, 21, was in his fifth semester at an engineering college in Bhopal and was on his way to his native place in Narmadapuram when he changed his mind and turned back to Bhopal, according to the police.
He was found cut in two on the railway tracks in Raisen, near Bhopal, on Sunday evening. Minutes before his death, he sent a mysterious message to his father with a text, “Rathore Sahab Apka Beta Bohot Bahadur Tha… Gustakh e-Nabi Ki Ek Hi Saza, Sar Tan Se Juda.”
His cell phone details are still being examined. Primary probe shows no sign of any threat received by him or any such post on social media prior to the day of the incident,” Raisen additional SP Amrit Meena told TOI. “We are recording statements of his kin and friends. We have taken down several statements but what triggered the incident and what was the motive behind such messages is still a matter of investigation,” he said, adding, “Prima facie, it seems to be a case of suicide but all aspects are being investigated.”
Sources said Nishank had less than Rs 1,000 in his bank account though he had received Rs 50,000 from his father and sister. Police have come to know that he had borrowed money from some people. “He was investing the money somewhere. Exact details will be clear as the investigation progresses, his account is checked and statements of some people recorded,” said an officer.
The sar tan se juda message is causing suspicions although actual links to his death still not found and his death remains a mystery. Anyone can write anything on someone’s mobile phone and send a message. Proof has to be found as to the actual killers.
