Rishi Sunak, Penny Mordaunt, and Liz Truss are in the Tory leadership race, the MPs will be voting for the last time on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, Kemi Badenoch was eliminated and Rishi Sunak remained the frontrunner. The Conservative Party members will cast their votes over the summer and the results will be announced on September 5.
According to BBC, Tuesday’s vote saw Sunak gain the support of three MPs to bring his total to 118, just short of the 120 he needs to qualify for the run-off.
Mordaunt had gained 10 votes to bring her total to 92, and Truss received 15 to close the gap and bring her total to 86. Boris Johnson resigned as Conservative leader on July 7 while reprimanding the “herd instinct” of Tory MPs for pushing him out of office.
