Earlier, due to bad weather along both Baltal and Pahalgam routes, there was no movement of pilgrims was allowed from either side towards the cave shrine and the pilgrims were not allowed to move towards the Valley from Jammu.
The annual 43-day Amarnath yatra started from the twin base camps — Nunwan-Pahalgam in south Kashmir’s Anantnag and 14-km shorter Baltal in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal — on June 30.
So far, over one lakh pilgrims have offered prayers at the holy cave shrine.
