IndiaCM Ashok Gehlot says atmosphere of "animosity" has been created

A tailor was brutally beheaded in Udaipur, Rajasthan over social media posts as he was supporting Nupur Sharma, 2 were arrested.

The heinous murder of a tailor Kanhaiya Lal today by two men who filmed it and bragged about it on a video, in avenging the tailor’s support of Nupur Sharma who made an offensive comment about Islam has shocked the nation and sparked tension and rallies in Rajasthan’s Udaipur. Both the attackers seen on camera have been arrested.  They even threatened the Prime Minister.  Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has appealed for calm.

The horrific murder was seemingly linked to a series of inflammatory social media posts from two communities after Nupur Sharma’s comments on national television.

Calling the situation “painful” and “shameful”, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said an atmosphere of “animosity” has been created.

Kanhaiya Lal had been threatened multiple times over his social media posts in support of BJP leader Nupur Sharma, who was suspended by the ruling party earlier this month after her comments on Prophet Muhammad triggered anger among Gulf nations and protests over India.

Leaders across the political spectrum immediately condemned it calling for strict action.

“It is too grisly to watch, my advice is please don’t look at the video,” said a top Rajasthan cop after the beheading of a tailor at his shop in Udaipur was filmed by his killers. Hawa Singh Ghumaria, the ADG law, and order for Rajasthan, also asked the media not to broadcast the video because of its highly inflammatory content.  Thus, Hams Live News also refrains from showing the video.
