Javed Mohammed’s house bulldozed framed as “mastermind” of riots

Javed Mohammed, whose house is bulldozed said to be the “mastermind” behind “riots” however, there is “no evidence of it” the family says.

Tensions persist in several cities after protests over alleged controversial remarks about Prophet Mohammed by Nupur Sharma of BJP and Javed Mohammed is alleged to be the “mastermind” behind the “riots” on Friday in response to Nupur Sharma’s comments due to “WhatsApp chats” intercepted by police, which Javed Mohammed and his family deny asking the police to prove it.

His daughter Sumaiya Fatima claims that the police have never revealed screenshots of the chats and it appears to be a false framing. The net result of this was Javed Mohammed’s bungalow was bulldozed to the ground by the chief minister of Utter Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath’s orders.

According to media reports, heavy police deployment continues in the cities of Ranchi, Howrah, Prayagraj, and some parts of Jammu and Kashmir following violent protests over controversial remarks about Prophet Mohammed by former BJP spokespersons.

Kolkata Police summoned suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma for questioning on June 20 over the Prophet row because the matter is escalating, not only with the remarks but the reactions to the demolition of homes and also the shooting of teenagers in the protest.

Two teenagers were brutally shot at by the police in Jharkhand and in Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Aditya Nath in a spree of “revenge” got Muslim homes demolished because it was in direct retaliation to the “fight” between Hindus and Muslims in Kanpur after the Muslims wanted to shut down their shops on Friday, but on being hindered by local right-wing Hindus, allegedly led to a fight between the communities.

Besides the two killed, hundreds were arrested after clashes between protestors and police. On Sunday, the house of one of the accused in the violence in Prayagraj was demolished by the Uttar Pradesh government for being an “illegal construction” and sought to “right” to bulldoze it down.

After the Prayagraj demolition, accused Javed Mohammed’s younger daughter Sumaiya Fatima speaks with NDTV’s Alok Pandey, sharing how the shocked family watched their beautiful bungalow being raised to the ground. While the police claimed unlicensed revolvers and pistols were found, Sumaiya Fatima replies that there was a live broadcast before the breaking down of their home and in that, all their belongings, books, childhood memory treasures, and other valuables were open for all to see, there were no weapons.  In fact, it was so, the Media would have immediately highlighted it.

After the house was emptied and then broken down, in the evening, the police claimed they found weapons.  However, Sumaiya Fatima said that this was never witnessed by the cameras when their belongings were being taken out of the house and certainly would have been highlighted if were true.

She said they never got a notice about their house being illegal ever before.  They always regularly paid their house tax, water tax, and electricity bills without issues and there was never any indication that this house was an illegal construction earlier; however, one day earlier they got a notice, and the next day, in twelve hours, their house was raised to the ground by a bulldozer.

When Alok Pandey asked the daughter how were they managing now, she replied that they have nothing left and they were now staying with relatives.

When asked about their thoughts about the police’s accusation of her father being involved in the riots, the daughter says, why are the police not revealing the WhatsApp chats if Javed Mohammed to show Javed Mohammed was the propagator of the riots.  She said that in fact, his last post on Facebook was a peaceful appeal and there was never any call by him for violence and that he did not encourage taking the path of violence.  This was all an effort to frame him falsely.  KK Rai is one of the advocates fighting for Javed Mohammed presently.
