Boycott Qatar Airways trends at the top on Twitter amid a fuming crowd demanding to “bycott” the Airways, and another group making merriment over it!
Boycott Qatar Airways has become a top Twitter trend on Monday after so many people started tweeting their views under the hashtag. The whole complicated issue started after Nupur Sharma, a leader of the BJP uttered a derogatory comment against Prophet Muhammed on Indian national television, leaving the Islamic world aghast. Perhaps anchors and guests on Indian television sets are unaware that many global nations subscribe to Indian channels because many have families back home.
Not only did Nupur Sharma’s statement shock everyone but her words, were heavily echoed through social media channels amplifying the matter to great levels. After this, nations like Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, UAE, Indonesia, Jordon, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, and Maldives demanded an apology from India amid outrage from some Indians as to why should India apologize for the wrong that Nurpur Sharma did.
While initially, Nupur Sharma justified her comments, fury grew large and the BJP on Sunday hastily suspended Nupur Sharma and expelled Naveen Kumar Jindal as the rage over their remarks against the Prophet escalated.
The matter raged on globally and the United Nations noting the upset reactions from several Muslim nations also condemned the comments a spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that “We strongly encourage respect and tolerance for all religions.”
In the meantime, the right-wing supporters started a new hashtag demanding Boycott Qatar Airways or rather was misspelled#BycottQatarAirways on Twitter after the Middle-Eastern nations asked India for an apology over Nupur Sharma’s remarks on Prophet Muhammed.
After a while, a youth by the name of Vasudev emerged on Tictok and strongly condemned Qatar and declared, “I’m against Qatar Airways.#BycottQatarAirways” Vasudev’s comments stirred up laughter and humor as well as support and the ones causing merriment on his speech said, “First make you the one who afford Qatar Airways then boycott!”
A humorous video was concocted of a mock interview of the CEO of Qatar Airways giving an interview to Aljazeera on the call for #BycottQatarAirwaysQatar by Vashudev and they say, “Watch till the end!” In the mock interview, the CEO of Qatar was falling apart and flabbergastered because Vashudev was going to ban Qatar Airways!
The spoof video is now removed: Doha News shares this:
A spoof video in which Qatar Airways’ CEO is shown to be ‘responding’ to recent boycott calls has gone viral online. Kanganu Ranaut, a popular Indian actress has been called out for falling for the fake video.

However, as Richard said, lest we forget, Qatar Airways had sent 1, 350 oxygen cylinders during India’s COVID “no oxygen crisis.”

Jokes apart, all said and done, the Middle East is offended, and an apology is due because it was a representative of the BJP who made that comment. India cannot afford to enter into the ballgame of religious hate. Qatar sent oxygen to India during the nation’s crisis. The leaders of India need to swing the pendulum to neutrality and ease out the fringe to unhinge. India has to work with Qatar. The Indian population in Qatar currently stands at around 691,000. Think about it!
This did not start with Nupur Sharma. It started with the hijab ban, genocidal speeches, attacks on mosques, bulldozers, lynching, and finally, exploded with the attack on Prophet Mohammad.
